Just after the summer solstice, when the days are impossibly long and McElmo Canyon seems at its most beautiful, we shall gather for what promises to be a rather extraordinary evening.
On Saturday, June 27th at 5:30p, Chef Brian Von Eggers from the historic El Tovar Lodge will join us at the vineyard for a four-course wine dinner beneath the canyon walls.
There is something wonderfully fitting about welcoming a chef from the Grand Canyon to McElmo — two places shaped by vast landscapes, difficult beauty, and a certain rugged elegance of the American West.
Chef Brian has thoughtfully prepared a menu for the evening to accompany Sutcliffe wines, celebrating the season and all the pleasures of a summer table shared among friends. Cost is $180 per person plus tax and gratuity.
The vineyard in late June is quite lovely: warm evenings, the scent of the vines in the air, and that golden light that seems to linger forever after sunset. Altogether, a very good excuse to sit down with a glass in hand and stay far later than intended.
This is one of those evenings not to miss.
